Westerners read everything visual, including signs with no words and art, from left to right and up to down. When the composition of an art piece pulls us against that, it makes us uncomfortable, and this also holds true for emoticons. Which is why (: is also weirder than :). It breaks the flow of the sentence.

so because I’ve seen some people posting fan art of this show with the tag otgw (over the garden wall), i googled it cause it looked interesting and i have to say…it is just that. really nice art, but is kinda nonsensical like adventure time. im gonna keep watching it though, it certainly has me intrigued.
today in art class a guy made a dick out of clay and when the art teacher was walking around she stopped in front of him and stared at it and just said “it doesn’t look very accurate” and walked away
all the guys at our table were like “how does she know what a dick look like” and she said
“i’m sixty years old and married and have three kids”
The real question is why couldn’t a boy make an accurate dick.
hdjdjsjkk my mum works in retail and one of her coworkers is autistic & mostly doesnt talk unless he has to but yesterday he went out of his way to cross through the crowds of xmas shoppers and dodge a train of trolleys to go up to my mum, gesture to the crowds and say “michelle. i am losing the will to live”
